You are Driving Me Crazy, ink on paper,
I ♥ Susak, 2009

For the last half a decade we've been spending our summers in our stone house on the island of Susak where I’ve turned our guest room into my studio. Last year I saw an old photograph of three women dressed in national costumes typical for Susak that intrigued me. After numerous drawing attempts I succeeded in making one pencil drawing on etched glass I liked. I named it "I LOVE SUSAK" and hung it on the studio wall.
This year I’ve been drawing with India ink, which seems somewhat old-fashioned. There are days when nothing works out and then suddenly my hand “listens” to me again and the strokes flow again. Some of the drawing, "You are Driving Me Crazy" or "Smoking Girl" I had already drawn in Ljubljana, but the rest, the more littoral motifs, I made on Susak. All of these motifs I joined into a story about Susak of yore and today.
