The work was shown as a series of portraits. I made portraits of my friends and acquaintances, but I emphasized general rather than personal characteristics. The lack of specificity in facial features and the apparent generalization of personalizing elements allowed a chance spectator to find his/her own face or that of loved one. However, I felt that the portraits were at their proper place only after they were hung at the homes of the friends I had portrayed.
