Taylor, drawing on glass, 2008
The drawings I imagined to draw were supposed to have qualities such as beauty, softness, gentleness, delicateness… and were supposed to glow the way a drawing glows when I see it on the computer monitor. I must admit that it took me quite a while before I succeeded. At first, I came the closest to these qualities when I was using transparent paper. But that wasn’t it. Then, due to an unfortunate coincidence, which turned into a fortunate one, the transparent paper wrinkled when it was framed. Just as quickly as I grew to like it I tossed it and began drawing on glass. That was it. The lines I draw on its surface have all the before mentioned qualities and I am exactly where I want to be. |
